About Me

I write Young Adult Science Fiction and Fantasy and review stories in my spare time. I am working on earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science the rest of the time.

I rode horses growing up and this strongly affects my writing. Many of my stories include an element with horses because I know a lot about them. I have also done a bit with the SCA to learn more about medieval sword-fighting and to feel what it feels like to face an opponent. I’ve been an archer since before “The Hunger Games” came out. I believe that one can not write a story well without at least trying some of the things the character is experiencing.

Favorite authors: Tamora Pierce, Mercedes Lackey, Anne Mcaffery (Dragon Riders of Pern), Isabelle Carmody (Obernewton Chronicles), Walter Farley (Black Stallion), my sister(who is unpublished but I get to read her drafts and she is amazing), Tolkien  Robin McKinley, Andre Norton, L.E. Modesitt jr., Donita K. Paul (Dragonspell, DragonQuest, DragonKnight, DragonFire, and DragonLight), and Kristen Britain (Green Rider books).

The worst edited professionally published books I have ever read are Mercedes Lackey’s books. I love her writing and her stories (or else she wouldn’t be in my favorite author list), but her editor misses a lot. I have found many discrepancies in her books. A specific example is the dragon in “One Good Knight” where he changes colors midway through the book. Its small enough not to get om my nerves too much, but it still bothers me when I find details messed up in the story.
